"Black Freedom"
by Laurie Russell (A.Mus.A)
"A choir concert on the development of the
unique Negro Spiritual in America"
Performed by a choir from Australia
"Black Freedom" is a recital that traces the origins of the gospel spirit which came out of one of the worst chapters of human slavery, the forced enslavement of tribal Africans. Out of slavery these "spirituals" breathed hope, a faith in the ultimate justice, freedom and unity of humanity.
