Bernard Berkhout & The Swing Orchestra playfully take the economic crisis head on, drawing enthousiastic audiences everywhere. And the people dance into the night on the irresistible beat.!

In 2010 the band can look back on performances at numerous major jazz festivals all over the Netherlands as well as in Belgium (Gent, de Vooruit) in de United Kingdom (HepCats Holiday March 2010) and France (Marckolsheim jazzfestival).En Marckolsheim Swing (Fr.).

At one of the so called Cultural Sundays Utrecht the band attracted over 2.700 spectators instead of the expected 800. Major jazzfestivals that booked the Bernard Berhout Swingorchetra in 2009/2010: Enkhuizen Jazz Festival, Jazz in Duke Town (Den Bosch), “Meer Jazz” (Hoofddorp), Jazzfestival Bergen Op Zoom, Jazz Festival Spijkenisse Jazz Festival, Laren Jazz, The Lindy Hop Exchange Amsterdam 2010, and Sail 2010.. On all festivals the band played on major stages and the critics were the same everywhere: Surprised and delighted. Festival organizers were more than satisfied everywhere.

Yazzmin is an exotic mix of Africa, Denmark and India. Borned in Mozambique and raised in Denmark

Most of her life she has been singing and is known for having a voice that melts right into your heart…

The genre extends from funky neo-soul to frisky R&B, jazz and latin. The grove is quite international with a crisp of impertinence Yazzmin just got home from a successful tour in Dubai where she was performing at several great locations. She was selected as a special act performing at the ATLANTIS grand opening in the Palm Island.

Among many things she has been dedicated to gospel for many years. As a soloist in several Gospel Choirs she has been performing and touring a lot.

Another huge passions in her life, is Salsa and all sorts of Latin grooves. As 20 years old she started singing and dancing in the big salsa group Salsazucar, followed by many other Latin groups. I.e. Jorge Cordero

Fly Me To The Moon

Girl From Ipanema

Through the years she has been attending many singing and dancing courses. Today she is an amazing performer that has been covering everything from jazz, soul, funk, lounge house, pop salsa.

Yazzmin also has been working together with a lot of Denmark’s great musicians and top producers. At the age of 21 she joined the big pop group Cargo. They had a great deal of success all over Denmark and Europe. Shortly after she decided to go solo.

Now you can experience her and her talented musicians at different locations all over the world.

Client Comments
“I recently booked Yazzmin and her pianist as entertainment for the company Spamfighter and their 500 guests. They were entertaining during dinner at restaurant Park. Besides having karisma and a fantastic voice – that made the guests forget all about their dinner – the choice of songs were brilliant. It was all from Anita Baker, Prince, erarth Wind and fire and Mary J. Blige. Theese are normally not artists that you want to compete with but Yazzmin sung it as were they her own songs. I warmly give my very best recommendation for Yazzmin. If you have an event whereby you need all the best songs, sung in a beutifull way, by a stunning woman. This is it!”

Best regards

Spectacularly elegant !

It’s a Pleasure…
I´ve had the pleasure to work with Yazzmin in several shows and festivals during the last year. I was very pleased and suprised about Yazzmins profesionalism and talent. Yazzmin sings, dance and does a beautifull stage apperance. I can only give my very best recomendations to anyone who plans to work with her.

Saludos

January 31st 2007 my customer, a group of 125 persons, had the pleasure of being entertained by Miss Yazz, Sound of Yazzmin.
The performance was extremely good and with her song and appearance, Miss Yazzmin succeeded in giving our diner arrangement a superbe atmosphere. I have already booked more arrangements with the artist.

Best regards
Birgitte Sørensen

Wow!
Miss Yazzmin has performed at some of our special private events. We are all breathtaken by the very talented girl and the big voice. A performance that I will recommend at any time. Not only was Yazzmin beautifull but she came through with a professionalism that we appreciated a lot. For every song she sung she introduced them with a story as if she new us personally. She made the evening unforgettable for us.

The voice is more visual than audible; shaded, iridescent, tangible, substantial. It seems to flow effortlessly.

Read any of the dozen or so biographies on Cassandra Wilson and you’ll discover some basics: born and reared in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960s and 70s by musician and educator parents. She studied piano for 13 years and played clarinet in the concert and marching bands of junior high school. During the 70s, she could be found performing Joni Mitchell songs behind an acoustic guitar, or singing with a blues band in Little Rock, Arkansas, in front of a large funk band in Jackson, or in the company of long-time friends in an all-girls ensemble. In the eighties, Cassandra moved to New Orleans, and performed with Earl Turbinton and Ellis Marsalis. She was relocated to East Orange, New Jersey where she made a decision to take her chances on the New York jazz scene. After a stint as the main vocalist with Steve Coleman’s M-Base Collective, Cassandra began recording on her own. Her development can be tracked through her discography. From the standards on Blue Skies to the Grammy-winning projects New Moon Daughter and Loverly, to the combination of originals and interpretations played by a collection of Mississippi and New York musicians on both the 2001 release, Belly of the Sun, and 2003’s Glamoured, Cassandra continues to evolve as a vocalist, songwriter, and producer.

Wilson has won numerous awards in recognition of her work: the Downbeat Reader’s Poll for best female vocalist, the Downbeat Critic’s Poll for best female vocalist, the Edison Award, the Django D’Or, Montreal International Jazz Festival’s Miles Davis Prix Award, two Grammys in 1996 and 2009, and the 2009 Mississippi Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. In 2001, CNN and Time Magazine voted Cassandra Wilson America’s Best Singer.

In 2000, Wilson returned to Mississippi to establish Ojah Media Group. Ojah, a Yoruba word meaning, “the marketplace”, is an independent multi-media entity dedicated to documenting and marketing the unique sounds emanating from Mississippi’s fertile soil, and its multi-cultural influences. Cassandra Wilson is a world renown vocalist, songwriter and producer, with an extraordinary following, but at heart she is still a Mississippi girl whose art reflects her deep musical and cultural roots, anchored in the fertile Mississippi soil.

The Superstars of Jazz Fusion continue to light up stages across the country with their kinetic live performances.

The Superstars of Jazz Fusion continue to light up stages across the country with their kinetic live performances. While each is uniquely talented, as an ensemble they feed off of each other in a way that makes the listening experience comparable to none.

Vibraphonist Roy Ayers is credited as being one of the forefathers of the Jazz Fusion genre. His career, spanning nearly four decades, is as versatile as the sound he champions. Ayers’ music has stood the test of time, and has proven to be more than relevant for new generations of musicians. His work is widely sampled today by everyone from Tribe Called Quest to Naughty by Nature proving time and again the impact of his musicianship. His recent collaborations have included Erykah Badu and Betty Wright, showcasing not only his extreme talent, but also his ability to reach across generations of musicians. It is without question that Ayers’ music will continue to inspire artists throughout the world for years to come.

Award winning trumpeter Tom Browne has blessed listeners with his warm sound for decades. His debut release, “Brown Sugar” wowed critics and audiences alike, and remained on the charts for weeks. His follow-up records “Love Approach” and “Magic” each earned gold status. Browne’s genius was recognized when he received Billboard Awards for Best Instrumentalist, Best Jazz Cross-over Artist, Best Jazz Artist-Trumpet and Best Jazz Solo Album.

Lonnie Liston Smith revolutionized the keyboard sound. Inspired by the great horn players of the genre—from Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Miles Davis—Liston Smith discovered ways to bend his instrument to model the sounds of his mentors. His unique style of playing instantly earned him spots backing some of the most recognized musicians of the day. Eventually, Liston Smith became a member of Pharaoh Sanders’ ensemble where he was encouraged to improvise with new sounds and techniques. Liston Smith rose to the challenge; creating layers of sound that would make him a stand out performer. His skills were so impressive he was asked by his idol, Miles Davis, to be a part of his band and epic recording “Big Fun.” Soon, Liston Smith was the leading man of the show—recording a series of acclaimed albums. Much like Ayers, Liston Smith has been able to stay relevant, constantly evolving and lending his sound to up and coming musicians in genres across the board.

Trombonist Wayne Henderson is also one of the forefathers of the Jazz Fusion genre. After forming the Jazz Crusaders while still in junior high, Henderson and his lifelong buddies began experimenting with a new vibe—combining elements of funk, jazz, soul, rock and latin—to form a groundbreaking sound that would set them apart from every other musician on the scene. While the members of the group may have switched a little, the players continued to develop the sound, recording multiple acclaimed records along the way. Henderson has also produced some of the biggest names in the music industry— everyone from Jean Carne and Bill Withers to the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.

Enter “Ronnie Laws” in any search engine, and you’ll find worldwide diehard admirers of his unique and compelling musical voice. They describe his work as outstanding, timeless, funky, bad-ass, high-quality, and real music to make you MOVE! People continue to sample his grooves, and admire his style. For more than 35 years, this musical legend has used his saxophone and his voice to satisfy his audience. Ronnie’s most recent album, “Voices in the Water,” is his 26th solo release. It blends R&B with Jazz Fusion, and a surprising drop of rock and blues. This new album follows the success of his albums “Dream a Little” in 2000 (which yielded the Urban Adult and Smooth Jazz smash hit, “Old Days/Old Ways), an “Everlasting” in 2004.
